Welcome to our new website!
We have tried our best to give you a flavour of what our school is like and what we feel are the important values that make our school special. St Philips is both a happy place to be and a place of great achievement. We trust that you will enjoy it whether you are a child, a parent or a member of the wider community.
St Philip’s is a one form entry Church of England School situated less than a mile from the centre of the popular seaside resort of Southport.
In 2006 we were thrilled to be judged as ‘A good school with outstanding features’ by OFSTED.(June 2006).
The first line of our Vision Statement states that ‘St Philip’s is a place where ‘Happiness, love and security abound’: we feel that this is certainly true and the OFSTED inspectors who recently visited our school agree when they said that ‘this statement is realised in the outstanding level of care provided for its pupils’.
The well being of our children is at the heart of our mission and we feel that if the pupils’ personal development and care, guidance and support are good then all will achieve. OFSTED thought that these areas were OUTSTANDING and commented on how our school is a place where adults guide the pupils and pupils help each other.
Our school is supported by many people including governors and parents. The St Philip’s Association works tirelessly to raise money so that the children can enjoy a curriculum that is enriched by visits from theatre groups, musicians and many other special visitors. This year 2007 they have raised £15,000 towards our new extension opened in September 2007. We aim to provide a curriculum that is vibrant, meaningful and full of memorable experiences.
All our children are encouraged to achieve their very best and we have a very strong commitment to inclusion with provision of opportunities for every child to be able to achieve their potential both academically and in other areas.
Staying safe and being healthy are both important for our children. We have just been awarded the Princess Diana Anti-Bullying Award and are currently well on the way to being accredited as a healthy school.
Caring for others has a high priority at St Philip’s and as a school family we are continually seeking to reach out into both the local and international community. Through such activities are children develop into responsible, caring global citizens.
Although a church school we welcome children into our school family from the wider community as well as Christian and other faith backgrounds.
We welcome visitors. Why not come along and experience what our school is all about?
